Customizing your golf clubs requires consideration of all the clubs' components that influence your swing. Some of these may influence more than others, and should be given greater emphasis. Grips, shafts, and all types of heads will affect the trajectory of the golf ball on contact. Heads can be purchased that offer compensating lofts (the angle of the head's face from the vertical plane) for habitual hooks and slices. Grips can be employed to fix similar problems by forcing the golfer's hands into a position that naturally compensates for hooks and slices, as well as other problems with swings. Shafts can be added to make the club more or less ridged, which will adjust the distance of ball travel as needed. This customization stems from the philosophy that technology, in this case the club, should be molded to the user rather than the other way around.
